Overview of Thay Cave (Master Cave)
Halong Bay Trips is honored to introduce Thay Cave, one of the most unique caves in Bai Tu Long Bay. Vietnam’s caves and grottoes are among its most valuable natural treasures, and Thay Cave stands out with its mysterious charm and fascinating rock formations.
Located near the “Stone Park” in Bai Tu Long Bay, about 25 kilometers from Quan Cave, Thay Cave (or Master Cave) gets its name from its distinctive stalactites, resembling books and quills, along with a small stone-like table.
This cave is approximately 3 meters wide and extends 150 meters deep. At its center lies a small lake, continuously fed by mountain streams, creating a peaceful yet mysterious atmosphere. The light from the cave’s entrance reflects off the water and stalactites, producing a mesmerizing effect. Unlike other caves with rocky floors, Thay Cave is unique in having a sandy floor, making it an intriguing place to explore.
Traveling to Bai Tu Long Bay during summer allows visitors to escape the city heat and enjoy the refreshing sea air. However, between June and August, storms and typhoons are frequent, so plan accordingly. With ongoing conservation efforts, Thay Cave is expected to become a unique beach cave and a top attraction for caving tours by speedboat.
